BLK Super Speciality Hospital inks pact with Tanzania’s leading Orthopaedic Institute
Tanzania: In an ongoing pursuit of delivering paramount medical services and health care facilities to the African nations, India (New Delhi) based BLK Super Speciality Hospital has announced signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), which is one of the largest orthopaedic hospital in Tanzania. The pact would help promote cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
BLK Super Speciality Hospital has been extending medical services in Tanzania in the past as well. The hospital has also signed a similar pact with The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) in 2015. Doctors from BLK Super Speciality Hospital have been regularly visiting Tanzania offering multiple speciality care and services along with surgical interventions in the region.
This strategic partnership with MOI will ensure quality medical consultation and management of the patients for specialised services. Talking on the pact with MOI, Mr. Naresh Kapoor, Executive Director, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, said, “We are happy to extend medical support in different parts of the world and with this partnership, we shall assist MOI achieve its objective of becoming a preferred and advanced healthcare destination for the people of Tanzania and the East African region by knowledge sharing, transfer of skills and capacity building. The pact will also allow our doctors and technical experts, to periodically visit and train MOI’s medical staff keeping them abreast with latest developments in medical sciences.”
“This partnership aims to set up a platform for both the hospitals enabling each to share their experiences and expertise. The two institutions in particular will develop educational, scientific and medical cooperation through surgical camps, workshops, observerships and Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes” added Mr Kapoor.
Dr. Othman, Executive Director, Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute, said, “It is a matter of privilege for us to collaborate with BLK Super Speciality Hospital, which is one of the largest hospital in Delhi NCR with 650 beds. This pact shall give us opportunities to develop and establish our institute as the leading and advanced healthcare destination for our people. The MoU shall also pave the way for strengthening our pre and post operative patients care through exchange programs. We see this as a great opportunity to learn from each other’s strengths and is a progressive step forward for cultural exchange.”
Senior and eminent doctors like Dr. Puneet Giridhar, Director - Spine Surgery, BLK Centre for Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery and Dr Subhash Chandra, Chairman & HoD, Cardiology, BLK Heart Centre from BLK Super Speciality Hospital will visit Tanzania from 13th to 15th February. During their visit they will perform Orthopaedic and Cardiac surgical interventions. Dr Puneet Girdhar will perform interventions like lumbar discectomy, cervical discectomy, thoracolumbar spinal fixation, disc replacement and spinal stabilization or fusion surgery at MOI, while Dr. Subhash Chandra will perform various cardiac procedures including Peripheral Angioplasties, Coronary Angioplasties and Balloon Mitral Valvoplasties or Valvotomies at JKCI.
